For the second year running we took a group of Year 2 and 3 students from all pathways to the excellent UsByNight Design and Creativity Festival in Antwerp. Students had the opportunity over the three evenings to meet many exciting speakers and practitioners as well as listen to a huge variety of influential and exciting designers, photographers and illustrators from Belgium, The Netherlands and all over the world. Highlights included the Adidas challenge and meeting graphic design legend David Carson! Several of the students were returning after coming on the previous trip and we were also please to meet up with several alumni who also decided to return after their great experience last year.
During the daytime students and staff had the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Antwerp including a tour of the FOMU, contemporary photography museum and the Museum Plantin-Moretus where they learnt about the origins of modern European printing and typeface design. Fueled by plenty of Belgian Frietjes, chocolate and beer a great time was had by all and we hope to return again next year.
