Over the summer we had the frenzied EU referendum campaign and the seismic result that has divided the UK. This Semester started with a visit from Professor of Social and Political Philosophy, David Owen, from our Highfield Campus. Kickstarting our Newsfeed brief, David generously shared a collection of articles, papers and analysis of the developing Brexit situation. The Graphic Design students each selected and dissected these texts and were able to question and discuss ideas with David during the day. The challenge of this project is to consider an editorial stance and design a publication which addresses a specific aspect or viewpoint about issues surrounding the momentous decision to leave the EU. The issues facing print media and social media’s influence on news sources and the electorate were just some of the contextual ideas considered. We saw some highly engaging publications at the crit and look forward to seeing them fully refined and edited at the end of the Semester.
