Drawing on ideas introduced by Insights speakers, studio visits and research into contemporary practice, students across all pathways in Year 2 are encouraged to consider where and how they see their own creative practice progressing over the next year and beyond graduation. As part of this process we have recently had several speakers in to talk to Year 2 about their individual projects and research. Kati Russell, talking about her social enterprise The Girlhood and Power Through Play. She talked engagingly about a range of ideas from questioning the value of work, equality, diversity and inclusivity in both the Creative Industries and Creative Economies, and investing in yourself and who you are. Ella Doran came to show her creative journey through her career building up her own business from starting out as a student and using travel and her camera as inspiration. Viviane Schwartz gave an entertaining narrative through the development of some of her children’s books and shared her research process allowing staff and students opportunity to explore her sketchbooks and take part in a workshop. We look forward to welcoming all three guests back in a few weeks to discuss with students the development of their ongoing Year 2 projects.
