Joe Sharpe, of award-winning design and technology studio Applied Works, visited our Year 2 Graphic Design and Motion Graphics students with a very informative and interesting talk and workshop. This semester students have worked on a series of short projects responding to ideas of Dialogue, Image & Sequence and Data Communication, through their observation of four films; Raging Bull, Run Lola Run, The Big Lebowski and In the Mood for Love.
Joe helped each group discover the stories within their data sets through relationships between numbers and creating work that helps understanding and enlightenment through testing and prototyping. The students created some interesting work during the day including performances and interactive pieces. and gained a greater understanding of approaches to communicating and researching complex data.
