Year Two Illustration are in week four of six, working on an exciting narrative brief called ‘Reading Between the Lines.’ Each student has selected a text from The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, The Courtship of Mr Lyon by Angela Carter or The Model Millionaire by Charles Dickens and are being guided by practicing illustrators on how to approach a narrative brief, building upon each student’s individual visual language.
The editing workshop on Friday was run by new Teaching Fellow at WSA and Illustrator Hayley Potter. Students were taught essential skills in editing their work into a successful set and narrative sequence. Working as dynamic editing teams, the students helped one another edit their work using the process they had been taught.
They can now spend the last two weeks before the deadline for this project building upon their strongest work.
Theres a fantastic lively atmosphere of narrative image making and conversations about it in the studios here at WSA so watch this space for more news on the student’s progress!
